Poem 31

Sitting in silence

Wishing you were here

Not wanting to be alone

I wanted you near.

Cruel fate killed hope

That golden star

Is now lost

Gone afar.

My hand to my stomach

It still thinks you’re there

In melancholic moments

They look and stare

To the empty vessel

The precious cargo all gone.

Denial casts a shadow

Until there were none.
